Jeffrey L. Wong

In The beginning, Jeffrey worked as a music instructor during the day while pursuing a career in the record industry by packing in clubs as a performer at night. In 1984, Label offers began to pour in from Southern California and Europe for Jeffrey’s band.

Upon relocation in 1987 to Los Angeles, Jeffrey went to work for one of the largest Christian record company in the country, Sparrow Records. This is where he first learned about the record business with hands on experience. In 1988, Warner/Electra/Atlantic offered Jeffrey a position in distribution; one of his many responsibilities was organization new release for award winning artists such as Madonna, Prince, Eric Clapton and many others. With world-class artist producing music that changed the face of popular music, Jeffrey effectively learned from some of the best in the business.

After many years of performing sold out shows in Southern California, Jeffrey appeared in many music magazines such as Hitparader, Krrang, Music Connection and many others as a member of metal act “Ambush”.

Jeffrey’s interests in guitar has always been more than a just a player’s perspective.  Having worked for both Kahler International and Rickenbacker International Corporation Jeffrey’s presence at the NAMM International tradeshow representation became familiar to many in the musical instrument industry. Hollywood also came knocking on Jeffrey’s door and soon he found himself working recording sessions with artist such as Peter Tork of the Monkeys, Shelly Berg, and USC Jazz band. This engineering opportunity brought Jeffrey an incredible instructor, Brian Friedman. Brian’s credits included country music’s biggest stars and pop legends such as Ike and Tina Turner.

After several decades of service in the music/entertainment industry, Jeffrey produced a debut CD for James Guest, a local Texas artist that charted top40 Adult Contemporary at number 38 in the winter of 2003.

Story of Spike

When Ambush decided to add theatrics to the band, I knew I needed a stage name.

Spike was inspired by Sting & Slash...a one syllable name that started with the letter S.
